VeganLife

I had a great time at Vegan Life Live yesterday. It was thrilling to see not only the range and quality of vegan products available  –  but also to be surrounded by so many people interested in them, engaging and buying them!

First stop, after a chat with the lovely ladies at The Vegan Society about their work supporting vegans, we saw the mouthwatering brownies made by Gemma at Dark Matters. They honestly looked like the most amazing vegan brownies I’ve ever seen and they came in all sorts of amazing flavours!

We loved Mr Organic‘s stand, there were humorous badges, a really large range of wholesome food, and lots of biscuits! All you could ask for!

I got some brilliant pates from the granoVita stall – the grilled aubergine was outstanding.

Seeing as its all about vegan pies at the moment, I enjoyed a Moroccan Pie from Mr Nice Pie. The pastry had a beautiful texture and the filling was delish; spiced and sweet at the same time. Highly recommended.

I loved the Fruu cosmetics made from fruit – how clever and delicious. I bought some lip balms which smell (and taste) amazing. It’s reassuring to know there are no nasties in there. Love these!

I have good memories of lunch…

But couldn’t fit these in too

PlayinChoc is wonderful vegan chocolate that not only tastes decadent, smooth and melty but also comes in boxes for children along with an animal they can build and a fact card about the animal. It’s all sustainable too, made with card and compostable wrapping. My 8 year old tester was very impressed with it all.

New Roots sell artisan cheese, which as you can tell by the picture, was gone as soon as the samples were put out! I tried the camembert, which had a brilliant nutty rind. There was also a spreadable cheese with horseradish – delectable! I hesitated before trying the Free the Goat cheese, but of course, with no goat, there was no ‘goatiness’. It was a revelation, the texture was like goats’ cheese but it has a mild, fresh flavour. I got the one flavoured with thyme and lavender which is really unusual. It goes well on anything!!

I only got to talk to a fraction of the people and businesses at the show but it feels exciting and inspiring that there is now so much choice for vegans. If you were at the show and you’d like a mention on my blog, drop me a line, I’d be happy to oblige!
